Our export controls coalition holds meetings with U.S. officials to discuss ways to protect national security while minimizing the negative impact on the U.S. economy. USA*Engage has taken the lead in advocating for a strategic approach to dealing with China and other important markets for U.S. exports, and encourages a serious cost-benefit analysis of proposed regulations. U.S. Visa Policy

The United States must be welcoming to students, visitors and business travelers in order to remain competitive in a globalized marketplace. USA*Engage's visa coalition holds meetings with U.S. officials to discuss ways to protect national security while minimizing the red tape and regulations that hinder legitimate travelers who seek to visit the United States. Building on previous studies, and in conjunction with other trade associations, USA*Engage has made a series of recommendations to the U.S. Government on ways to facilitate the issuance of visas and temporary entry procedures. USA*Engage also monitors new visa and immigration proposals in Congress, and supports comprehensive immigration reform that includes enhanced temporary entry provisions. Read More

A Level Playing Field

American businesses deserve to compete globally on a level playing field. Foreign governments should seek to hold their companies to the same high standards to which U.S. companies are subject on issues like bribery and corruption. At the same time, the United States must set a gold standard by abiding by its international treaty obligations, so that other countries do not have any excuse to shirk their responsibilities when it comes to issues like protecting trademarks and copyrights or operating in a transparent manner.
