Diplomacy, Trade & Aid
America’s values, security and prosperity are best advanced by
sustained public and private sector involvement in world affairs.
Engagement at all levels – political, economic, religious, educational
and cultural - is the best way to advance America’s interests overseas.
Direct official dialogue between governments, robust multilateral
diplomacy, international trade and assistance are key pillars that
promote U.S. values and help to achieve U.S. foreign policy goals. Read More Federal Sanctions
Unilateral sanctions are generally ineffective in achieving U.S.
foreign policy goals and harm innocent people more than the regimes
they target. Despite the fact that unilateral sanctions rarely achieve
our foreign policy goals, they continue to have political appeal.

Building on previous studies, and in conjunction with other trade associations, USA*Engage has made a series of recommendations to the U.S. Government on ways to facilitate the issuance of visas and temporary entry procedures. USA*Engage also monitors new visa and immigration proposals in Congress, and supports comprehensive immigration reform that includes enhanced temporary entry provisions. Read More A Level Playing FieldAmerican businesses deserve to compete globally on a level playing field. Foreign governments should seek to hold their companies to the same high standards to which U.S. companies are subject on issues like bribery and corruption. At the same time, the United States must set a gold standard by abiding by its international treaty obligations, so that other countries do not have any excuse to shirk their responsibilities when it comes to issues like protecting trademarks and copyrights or operating in a transparent manner. USA*Engage supports measures aimed at improving transparency, reducing corruption and setting high global standards worldwide, and ensuring that the United States abides by those standards and obligations.
